11 Days in Chicago

We have been here since the 1st of the year. It was around 3 degrees and snowy at first, quite a way to start the new year I might add. Having been warned by every one who discovered we were off to Chicago in
January about the weather we actually expected worse and thus don't think it was that bad. I even have Kaaren quoted as saying "this is not that bad." Since then the temperatures have been up around the 30's and 40's which is practically shorts weather(haha).

It took a few days to get accustom to the vibrant city of Chicago. The lights and the noise never stop. We found 2 great Coop type grocery stores where we do our weekly shopping, Whole Foods and Fox and Obel. The public transport system is really good and speedy and also a bit of an adventure. But then again, anywhere we go is a bit of an adventure =). I correct myself, a life following Jesus is always an adventure and is a learning experience.

One evening, we went the "Snow Queen" play by Hans Christian Andersson. The acting was amazing and the story had a sweet message about trusting in God, the Christ Child, which really spoke to us. Before that, we dined at Karyn's All Raw Gourmet Food restaurant just down the street from the theater, which was splendidly delicious. After all that we took the "L", red line back to our hotel right next to the Hancock Tower.

The other days since, we have toured the lake front walk, Millennium Park, toured Moody Bible Institute, taken an art studio walk in a neighborhood close by, walked a ton all over Chicago, seen Wrigley Stadium and Soldier Baseball Field (although there is not much activity going on there right now), toured the Ukrainian district, and tried different Chicago eateries here and there.

Since the start of our internship though, our touring activities have ceased. We are learning to the max, and our brains are really tired at the end of the day. Since we live about a mile away from our office at ThinkorSwim, we walk to work around 6:30am. This takes about 10-20 minutes and is nice to be out and to get the blood flowing. For the rest of the day we have been taking notes and asking questions and then getting home around 5:30.
