The hours are long, the work is tough, and the weather is not always agreeable. There is a sense of living off the land, maybe what the settlers felt when they homesteaded out here 100 years ago. Extracting black (actually the crude oil is more greenish yellow up in North Dakota) sludge out of a 8,000 foot by 6 inch hole in the ground is something amazing. More to come......
