The Courtyard

Having lived so much life already, going back to college to finish our master's it seemed appropriate and right to work and give back to those going through it for the first time themselves. Like usual, it was Kaaren who had the crazy idea of being house parents in a sorority or fraternity and of course I love a challenge! I knew as the one leading as the head of our household I was to work and bust my butt to provide and care for my wife and family, but this idea was not the first idea that entered my mind. As usual when the One in control has a plan for you, things just fall into place and happen, leading you to a greater understanding of His sovereignty and goodness.

So through a series of connections, being at the right time and the right place, and having a heart to spend time pouring into and encouraging others in their walk of faith.  We found ourselves at the Courtyard. Where life never stops with forty-eight college students in a house of 20,000 square feet! There was so much we learned about each other in marriage, others, and of God I will dare to sum it up in one phrase, "Behold how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell together in unity."

After three wonderful years as Director of a house of amazing and delightful people with lots of interesting, amazing, and also challenging experiences we see the time is right to go into full time teaching and start a family of our own. So it is, we head off to to a foreign land to teach in school and adopt beautiful kids as we serve and follow our Lord and Savoir. Thank you, to all the beautiful people we had the opportunity to share life with while living at the Courtyard! It is a gift we shall treasure our entire lives.
