To Chicago and Beyond.....

You have guessed it. We are somewhere else.... Words to live by (according to me) stick to the plan and always tell the truth. Well we are sticking to our 1 year epic journey plan and we are telling the truth about the amazing life following and trusting in our Savior as we go. As I am writing this entry for the blog I will throw in some philo-so-phy, at no extra charge.

We were in Chicago again. It is funny when we go somewhere new, fresh, and exciting how many times we catch it in random conversations, movies, tv, news, and then end up there. We sharpened our tools of investing and even got to look into some real estate possibilities and go back to our favorite 2 teas stores in the world (Tea Geschwender, and Argo Tea in downtown Chicago). So after having a mini reunion in Chicago with some old friends we got to know there last January, we headed East (because we have never been East of Chicago as a married couple so why not?).

East we went, Gettysburg was the target. Sleeping in a tent as lighting and thunder shook the ground one night and then in an 80 year old RV park "Fox Den" another night. We got to Gettysburg early in the day and took a bus tour of the 3 day battle that took place in Gettysburg itself. Walking the ground where over 50,000 Americans died over the dispute of slavery was more then awe striking and to stand at the place where President Abraham Lincoln gave the Gettysburg Address was inspiring. Walking the town at night was really fun also, as there were many ghost stories from it's history.

I may have said this before, but traveling is really giving me an interesting and I believe healthy perspective on life. I notice that everywhere we go there are people wearing some sort of clothes, going from point A to point B, taking up their day with eating, bathrooming, sleeping, socializing, and accomplishing some task that helps someone else do those things mentioned prior. We are all the same! Are these the things that make life so wonderful and worth living? If I upgrade my car to make getting from point A to point B more enjoyable is life more enjoyable? If I eat more expensive food, am I getting a better life? If I wear nicer clothes, is my life more full and amazing? I realize that things are not bad, they just are what they are. And enjoying a thing is also not bad, as the good Book says, give thanks in all things, to our Father in Heaven. It is the love of those things (or as the Bible puts it the love of the money that can buy those things) that is bad. But not just bad, it is wasteful, slavery, mediocre, and a substandard of living a full and abundant life. God desires for us what is important and makes life so full and powerful. It is living with Him close to my heart, having a right and clean and good relationship with Him through Jesus Christ and following Him everyday single day. And it is by showing and treating others as important, worthy, special and loved that makes life so awesome.

Otherwise I am just a drone, in the daily grind, pounding stone until my dull existence is extinguished. Now please don't miss understand my altruistic talk, I would not mind enjoying a nice new car (oh lets say, a Toyota Tundra, 4 door, leather interior, 5.8L), BUT God may have an even better idea for me to experience something even cooler, by doing something different. All I have to do is ask and then trust Him as He leads and the more I ask Him and follow the better life gets. Well, I will have to talk about the really cute Amish town of Intercourse, Pennsylvania another time. TaTaForNow.
